Wondering and Wandering the Stars
The tittle might be a little too cheesy but, I’ve always loved anything related to outer space. I think it all started when my friends used to called me ‘My moon’ back in elementary school. Probably that’s when the magic string between me and the moon just happened to be collided. Haha (oughhh, so cheesy!) As I grew up, I loved watching Lost in Space and listening to Brian Cox’s podcast while imagining how outer space look like.
It might sound random, but then I used to stare at the sky a lot, especially at night. I even remember giving the moon a name as a scardey cat teenager. I called it Mr. Alexander. Haha. Whenever I was scared to go somewhere unfamiliar, I would look up at the moon, and I could see that no matter where I went, I could always stare to the same moon. The same moon that my loved ones also could see, the same moon that watching us from afar. It just happened like that.
Staring at the stars is more than just admiring how sparkling and twinkling those stars are, it makes me reflect on myself, mylife, and how small and insignificant we truly are. Then, sometimes, I suddenly feel so scared of myself. I start questioning..
Have I ever bragged about myself to other people, about what I have done, what I have achieved. When, in reality, all my achievements and growth have only happened by the will of Allah? When in reality we are all the same in front of Allah except our Taqwa?
Then have I ever feelt disappointed when people did not compliment mywork? Have I ever looked down on others just because I felt they were not good enough? I believe many of us have ever felt the same at some point. When, in truth, we know literally nothing about other people. Their struggles and their silent tears.
So, that’s just all I want to share with you- something that crosses my mind when I look up at the sky.
Addition: I think the sky is very romantic. You know why?
When it’s cloudy, it gives you rain and a sense of calm. When it’s sunny, it gives you warmth. When it’s windy, it makes your heart pounds as the wind rushes past you. At night, you can see the stars sparkling. And the moon? It puts on a free show every day, by looking a little different each time. Just so you know, all of those beautiful creations only exist because they were created by Allah that loves beauty.
